With petrol prices increasing more and more people are turning to trains as their method of transport. This has lead to overcrowded trains. TransPennine Express have listened to their customers and have started building more trains to combat the congestion. The new trains are coming and will be in service from the end of 2013. The new trains which TransPennine Express have invested over £60m will mean there is an 80% increase in capacity on certain routes. This doesnt mean the end for the old trains (which are still pretty new). They will be used to strengthen other services and make journeys faster across our network.
